Double cleansing is one of my favourite skincare tips because it will make a huge difference in your overall skin health. As I like to say, “every good skincare regimen begins with a double cleanse”. If you aren’t double cleansing, you are leaving behind dirt, makeup, and product build up! Double cleansing is an essential skincare practice for healthy, clear, and glowing skin.
If you’ve been using makeup wipes as your cleanser, this article is for you.
Double cleansing is a practice where you use two different cleansers on your skin back to back. Let me break it down for you – you will first cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser that breaks down oils, dirt, and removes makeup. Your first cleanse should be an oil, balm, or gel-based cleanser. Typically, you will apply these cleansers to dry hands and a dry face and then add water as you go.

This delicate nectar with Sophora Japonica flower extract and argan oil emulsifies into a milk.
G. M Collin Hydramucine Cleansing milk
This is my go to first cleanser because it melts makeup without damaging your lash extensions. If you have lashes, this product will be better for retention because it’s not oil based.
This incredibly creamy emulsion purifies and eliminates skin impurities and secretions for a beautiful, radiant skin.
Now, for your second cleanse, you will want a cleanser to target your skin type and concerns. Ex. Oily, acne, dull, aging, dry, etc. Your second cleanse acts as insurance for your first cleanse to make sure all makeup and product build up is off of the skin. This cleanse truly treats your skin and acts as a treatment cleanser. Remember if you have fairly normal skin you can use your first cleanser as your second cleanser. It is not recommended otherwise as your second cleanser is to really target those concerns.

Remember to always wash your face with lukewarm water for 60 seconds. A good cleanse is essential for good skin.
Cleansing the skin eliminates the daily buildup of bacteria, airborne pollutants, excess sebum and dead skin cells that may block pores, thus preventing the skin from enjoying the full benefits of other products that will be applied afterwards.
